By downloading, installing, or using the WhisperBox application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the application.

1. Acceptable Use & Conduct

WhisperBox is designed as a peaceful, reflective audio space. You agree not to upload audio content that contains harassment, hate speech, explicit illegal activity, promotional spam, or personal identification details of third parties without consent.

2. Non-Crisis / Non-Emergency Disclaimer

WhisperBox is NOT a mental health crisis service, medical device, or suicide prevention hotline. If you are experiencing distress, self-harm thoughts, or a medical emergency, please contact your local emergency services or national crisis helpline immediately.

3. License Grant

You retain full copyright ownership of your voice recordings. By releasing a whisper, you grant WhisperBox a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to stream and store the audio asset as required for the functional delivery of the app.

4. Limitation of Liability

WhisperBox is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind. Under no circumstances shall the developer be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from app usage or voice audio interactions.

To preserve a serene, calm environment for all travelers, WhisperBox enforces strict automated safety protocols prior to audio release.

1. Safety Guardrails (On-Device Evaluation)

Before any audio recording is uploaded to CloudKit, it passes through our integrated acoustic safety evaluator (`SafetyGuardrail`). Audio flagged for extreme acoustic toxicity, screaming, or abusive patterns is blocked locally from being dispatched.

2. Zero Tolerance Policy

WhisperBox maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), violent extremism, targeted harassment, and non-consensual personal exposure. Any identified violating content is immediately purged, and associated anonymous device tokens are permanently banned.

3. Reporting Violations

Users can flag abusive content directly within the application or by contacting our safety team at `safety@whisperbox.app` with the approximate timestamp and country code.

This policy outlines the lifecycle of voice data inside the WhisperBox ecosystem.

1. Public Whispers (`EphemeralWhisper`)

Public voice notes remain available in the public pool until retrieved by a traveler. Once retrieved, the system marks `isAvailable = 0` (soft delete) to prevent infinite re-listening by strangers, ensuring a true ephemeral lifecycle.

2. Quiet Responses

Private responses tag the parent whisper record name (`parentRecordID`) and remain hidden from the public pool (`isAvailable = 0`). Only the original creator querying their Memory Vault can retrieve and listen to direct quiet responses.

3. Local Memory Vault

Items saved to the Memory Vault are stored locally on the user's iOS device using Apple SwiftData. Users retain complete control to delete vault items from local storage at any time.
